Belfield is a tiny, family run wine Estate situated on a hill in the Elgin valley. Mike and Mel Kreft took the plunge in 2000 and purchased the 5.5 hectare property and have converted it from fruit to the vine.
The soil is beautifully suited to red wines, well drained and rich in iron, and faces north, creating a pocket of land that produces elegant cooler climate red wines.
The Elgin valley has become an exciting destination for wine enthusiasts and many winemakers have also planted their flag in this up and coming region.
Each wine produced from Belfield is from one vineyard, beautifully showing the influence of terroir on different varietals. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz are all planted in single blocks.
Mike and Mel welcome you to experience Belfield wines - drop by for a tasting around the lounge table!

Hugh Johnson, in his 2009 Pocket Wine Book commented that Belfield was one of the estates worth watching in South Africa - in his “From the Nursery”, in the South African section.
